Thanks to the state of the pound against the Euro, what was an expensive hobby has now become out of reach for many individuals and families. When skiing or snowboarding, it’s not just your accommodation and flights you have to consider; there’s lift pass, equipment hire, lunch on the mountain, lessons add all that up and it comes to almost the same price as the accommodation!

Believe it or not, studies show that people are more susceptible to dehydration when exercising during the cold weather months. Because it is necessary to wear extra layers of clothing, you actually sweat more and generally do not even realise it because all the perspiration is absorbed by the extra layers. You can feel like you are freezing, yet you are still losing essential moisture simply because you are breathing.
At first glance the evidence is irrefutable, global warming is starting to have an affect on ski resorts. Any ski resort that is at a lower altitude than its neighbours, particularly in the Alps will bear the brunt of this phenomenon.

Skiing is not about balls – it is in relation to balance. I have seen many friends – determined to ski off-piste or bust – persist to bang their heads against their lack of skill in anticipation, until finally they learn to do it well. Skiing is an out door sport and as such you require gear that will keep you warm and dry. Basics are ski pants (waterproof and warm), a ski jacket, gloves, a hat (toque) and thin socks. In fact several of the ski area should give some grand sport. Skiing is best in the East but the west is improving.
